It is important to be familiar with the information in this page, like everything that is outside of the defined parameters should be carefully considered. There have been many Directors that have not changed over the years, and the same is true for most of the model names, i.e., they have been used over and over again, while the kind of the watch that were applied to them, drastically. Differences between the versions might be the case or just the dial design, the gold color or even the band or bracelet. It is believed, but not proven, that the symbol may be seen in connection with the American Standard name, similar to the shield, on some of the early Bulova models shown above. I strongly believe that a thorough knowledge of all available ads is very important to the naming process, in particular in the identification of a variant, and if you have any doubts, no variant should be selected. However, it is important to note that there are actually two different American Standard case signatures, and it may be that only one of those that falls into the trademark rights shown above. More often, the conclusion is made that, if a crystal resource (catalog or crystal storage package) the name of a crystal as belonging to two models, and one of the two models was determined using a display to appear, then the first watch with the same crystal dimensions must be, the other one with the name model. I've been in both positions, so here is my best shot is to help with some of the others in a similar situation.
